‘Eagle eyes’ owl, falcons swoop in to keep metal ‘birds’ airborne
Lola, a 7-week-old Lanner falcon, looks for food from handler Keith Mutton, owner of Phoenix Bird Control from Sedge Fen near Brandon, Suffolk, July 19, 2013, on RAF Mildenhall, England. Phoenix Bird Control is contracted to patrol the runways of RAF Mildenhall and RAF Lakenheath 24/7. It also provides bird control on RAF Fairford. Mutton bred Lola, as he does the majority of his birds of prey, and at less than two months old she is almost fully grown. He has more than 20 birds of prey, including a variety of falcons, hawks and Eagle owls. (U.S. Air Force photo by Airman 1st Class Preston D. Webb/Released)
