Stansted Airport celebrates 70th anniversary of runway
Retired Maj. Edward Horn, 344th Bomb Group B-26 Marauder pilot from West Palm Beach, Fla., leads a procession after the 70th anniversary ceremony of Stansted Airport’s runway July 26, 2013, in Stansted Mountfitchet, England. RAF Cadets, Team Mildenhall Airmen, and civilian supporters followed Horn as he made his way to the flightline to watch a fly-past of a P-47 Thunderbolt, the aircraft which escorted Horn’s B-26 Marauder during World War II missions. Horn flew 23 missions before being shot down over France and captured in 1944. (U.S. Air Force photo by Airman 1st Class Preston Webb/Released)
