A tail of two ‘cities’: Tanker joins ranks of 100th ARW heritage, becomes ‘Square-D Away’

A U.S. Air Force Airman from the 100th Maintenance Squadron checks the primer under protective plastic on the tail of a KC-135 Stratotanker Oct. 21, 2015, to see if it’s ready for the next stage of the painting process, on RAF Mildenhall, England. The tanker was reassigned from McConnell Air Force Base, Kan., and arrived in September, when the tail was removed in order to repair a broken part. Once replaced, the aircraft was primed and repainted, ready for application of the 100th Air Refueling Wing’s Square D, which honors the base’s heritage with the 100th Bombardment Group.
