Nip, tuck tanker-style: Thereby hangs a tail

U.S. Air Force Staff Sgt. Christopher Ward, 100th Maintenance Squadron repair and reclamation crew chief, connects a crane hook to chains attached to the tail of a KC-135 Stratotanker in preparation for removal of the tail Sept. 11, 2015, on RAF Mildenhall, England. The jet, formerly from McConnell Air Force Base, has been reassigned to RAF Mildenhall and underwent a full isochronal inspection, with the addition of the tail removal.
