Emergency responders join forces to train

U.S. Air Force Airman 1st Class Luke Sarafian, left, 100th Civil Engineer Squadron Emergency Management apprentice, and U.S. Air Force Senior Airman Adaina Mendoza, 48th Aerospace Medicine Squadron Bioenvironmental Engineering journeyman, practice a technique called “clean man, dirty man” during a joint training exercise Feb. 10, 2016, on RAF Mildenhall, England. This procedure is where one responder handles all of the clean, sterilized sampling tools (clean man) and the other responder is responsible for using those tools to collect and test small samples of the suspected hazardous substance (dirty man). This method is necessary for responders to ensure there is no cross-contamination in the collected samples and is extremely important during the investigation process that follows any response.
