This burnt-out personal alert safety system was the only piece of gear, belonging to then-Airman 1st Class William Taylor, which survived when he was trapped and alone in a training fire in July 1997 near Maxwell Air Force Base, Ala. Fire chief shares personal story of trauma, perseverance
