Families of 100th BG veterans join 100th ARW for ‘Squawkin Hawk’ nose art dedication on KC-135
The original World War II B-17 Flying Fortress, “Squawkin Hawk” sports flak damage after a combat mission in 1943. The 100th Air Refueling Wing unveiled new heritage nose art on two of its KC-135 Stratotankers – one of which is “Squawkin Hawk” – during a nose art dedication ceremony at Royal Air Force Mildenhall, England, Oct. 10, 2023. The last nose art was added to the 100th ARW’s fleet of tankers in honor of those who served at Thorpe Abbotts during World War II, many of whom made the ultimate sacrifice.
