Families of 100th BG veterans join 100th ARW for ‘Squawkin Hawk’ nose art dedication on KC-135
Chris Barrett, 100th Bomb Group Foundation director and husband of Laura Barrett, grand-niece of Lt. Harry Edeburn, co-pilot on the 100th Bomb Group’s original “Squawkin Hawk” B-17 Flying Fortress during World War II, shares how he spent years researching Edeburn to find out as much as possible about his wife’s relative, and achieved his goal in preserving the stories for future generations during a nose art dedication ceremony at Royal Air Force Mildenhall, England, Oct. 10, 2023. The 100th Air Refueling Wing unveiled two new heritage nose art on their KC-135 Stratotanker fleet, one of which was “Squawkin Hawk.” (U.S. Air Force photo by Karen Abeyasekere)
