Families of 100th BG veterans join 100th ARW for ‘Squawkin Hawk’ nose art dedication on KC-135

The tail of the original “Squawkin Hawk,” a B-17 Flying Fortress which flew out of Thorpe Abbotts, Norfolk, England, during World War II and was the first from the 100th Bomb Group to reach 50 combat missions, displays the names of its first assigned crew in 1943. Royal Air Force Mildenhall’s heritage nose art honors those who served at Thorpe Abbotts during World War II, many of whom made the ultimate sacrifice.
