Families of 100th BG veterans join 100th ARW for ‘Squawkin Hawk’ nose art dedication on KC-135
A U.S. Air Force KC-135 Stratotanker, from the 100th Air Refueling Wing, stands ready to have its new heritage nose art – “Squawkin Hawk” – unveiled at a dedication ceremony at Royal Air Force Mildenhall, England, Oct. 10, 2023. The ceremony was held on the 80th anniversary of the infamous Munster, Germany, mission of Oct. 10, 1943, when the 100th Bomb Group suffered its greatest loss of aircraft and crew; 12 aircraft and 121 crew perished in the skies over Germany, and it earned its infamous moniker, the “Bloody Hundredth.” (U.S. Air Force photo by Karen Abeyasekere)
