WWII veteran’s son shares father’s journey from RCAF sergeant-pilot to commissioned USAAC pilot
From left to right, U.S. Army Air Corps-retired Gen. Thomas Jeffrey, 100th Bomb Group commanding officer; Tech. Sgt. Rick Erickson, 350th Bomb Squadron B-17 Flying Fortress radio operator gunner; Lt. David Tallichet, 350th BS B-17 co-pilot; Lt. Col. Robert “Rosie” Rosenthal, 418th Bomb Squadron commander and B-17 pilot; and Capt. Charlie “Hong Kong” Wilson, 350th Bomb Squadron B-17 pilot, pose for a group photo in Palm Springs, California, in 2003. Reunions became very important over the years as it provided an opportunity for many 100th BG veterans to reconnect, share stories and introduce families to their history and heritage.
