Almost 5,000 artefacts and small aircraft parts relating to the cockpit, fuselage, wings, engines and machine guns have been discovered by archaeologists, in partnership with the Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency. U.S. Air Force Airmen from around the United Kingdom volunteered over a six-week period with a variety of fieldwork including metal detecting, surveying using geophysics, and washing and sorting finds.
