Base placed on lockdown

At 5:09 p.m. this evening, RAF Mildenhall went into lockdown following reports of an active shooter.

A security sweep was performed and following a thorough search of the area, there were negative findings.

The lockdown was lifted at 5:48 p.m.

“Our team responded immediately and professionally to the situation,” said Col. Troy Pananon, 100th Air Refueling Wing commander. “Even though no threat was identified, they demonstrated their readiness to carry out their duties as defenders and first responders.”
