RAF MILDENHALL, England -- The main gate was reopened at 5:18 p.m. following the conclusion of a security incident.
The incident, which began following the discovery of a suspicious package, was resolved by Ministry of Defence personnel working in close liaison with those of the USAF. This included the Ministry Of Defence Police, Explosive Ordinance Disposal Team and elements of the USAF 100th Air Refueling Wing.
The routine investigation, which was initiated out of an abundance of caution, concluded that the package posed no risk to the base or surrounding community.
