RAF Mildenhall, alongside numerous other installations located in the United Kingdom, will benefit from a £117 million contract for repair and maintenance services.

The contracts, awarded by the Defence Infrastructure Organisation, will provide hard facilities management services to United States Air Force bases at: RAF Lakenheath, RAF Croughton, RAF Molesworth, RAF Alconbury, RAF Fairford and RAF Menwith Hill. RAF Mildenhall facility management services were awarded to Mitie Group PLC (https://www.mitie.com/).

“We are proud of our relationship with the US Air Force and want to ensure we are providing them with the best possible service,” said David Brewer, DIO chief operating officer.

The contracts, which additionally comprise the provision for a further £46 million in supplementary works, have been developed in close collaboration with the USAF to guarantee that the needs of the members on each installation have been considered.

Lessons learned from the distribution of previous facility management services have helped form the new contracts, which include best practice and industry standards.

“The award of these new base maintenance contracts are a very welcome and important step for US Forces in the United Kingdom,” said Brig. Gen. George Dietrich, director of logistics, engineering, and force protection, United States Air Forces in Europe and Africa. “We are looking forward to continuing our relationship with DIO over the life of this contract and beyond.”
