7/30/2012 - RAF MILDENHALL, England -- The Logistics Compliance Assessment Program for RAF Mildenhall is scheduled for Aug. 13 to 20, and a team of inspectors will visit RAF Mildenhall to assess the 100th Logistics Readiness Squadron, 100th Maintenance Group and 727th Air Mobility Squadron.

100th Logistics Readiness Squadron:

"This is an Air Mobility Command inspection to ensure we are all following regulations, Air Force instructions, policies and procedures correctly," said Chris Shades, 100th LRS logistics manager. "They are ensuring we're keeping the flying mission going, and checking that we're following rules that govern all of us."

The LCAP inspection is held every two years, no less than 24-months apart. Approximately 20 inspectors will be here, each assigned to a flight within the squadrons and group.

The 100th LRS personnel are currently running their Air Force and self-inspection checklists, and have been preparing for the LCAP since July 9, according to Shades, from Glasgow, Scotland.

"Earlier in July, we had people from 48th Logistics Readiness Squadron Quality Assurance come here for a week to run checklists on all our inspections," he said. "We also have reservists here, from Pope Air Force Base, (N.C.) who are also going through our checklists and doing inspections on us. This helps us prepare for the assessment, and provides a fresh set of eyes for looking at our processes."

The logistics manager said the assessment is important because it proves they are working in accordance with strict rules and guidance, and highlights that their people are being trained properly.

100th Maintenance Group:

With more than 400 inspections expected, the 100th MXG are confident their day-to-day maintenance functions will show the proficiency of their personnel and process effectiveness.

Capt. Kathryn Mobley, 100th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron maintenance operations officer, explained that the inspectors perform personal evaluations on maintainers, to check their compliance with technical orders, instructions, manuals and directives.

"They'll also look for task qualification of our Airmen, and how proficient they are in their primary duties. They will ensure we are in compliance with all safety programs, and that we minimize risk to equipment and personnel," said the El Paso, Texas, native, adding that they will also look at the condition of 100th MXG facilities and equipment, as well as verify asset accountability.

The 100th MXG has been critically reviewing all of its checklists in order to verify compliance with all requirements, in preparation for the LCAP.

"We are also preparing our Airmen by increasing the number of over-the-shoulder evaluations in order to see their proficiency in the job," Mobley said, adding that doing this prepares them for what the inspectors will be doing during the week of LCAP.

This inspection is important to the 100th MXG because it allows them to show senior leadership that they accomplish the 100th ARW mission on a daily basis in a safe manner and in accordance with all policies and directives, she said.

727th Air Mobility Squadron:

A thorough inspection by AMC to assess and validate the air transportation processes here is expected at the 727th AMS, according to Capt. Katrina Smith, 727th AMS operations officer.

"The inspectors will be here to ensure standardization and repeatable, technically-compliant process execution - basically, how well we accomplish our daily tasks and duties, in accordance with regulations and guidance," said the Rapid City, S.D. native.

She said that in preparation for the assessment, the squadron has been increasing its own Air Transportation Standardization and Evaluation inspections.

"We've got another inspection during the same time - a Mission Capability Compliance Inspection - which we've been preparing for, for more than six months," Smith said. "Although the LCAP message (notification from AMC) was only released 45 days prior to the inspection, we've been preparing for both, based on the inspection schedule and when our last LCAP was completed."

With several inspections for Team Mildenhall scheduled throughout 2012 and much work and preparation going on from all those involved, the 100th LRS, 100th MXG and 727th AMS will be ready to show the LCAP inspectors what they're made of.
