Name and Rank:
Jessica L. Vey, A1C

Unit: 488th Intelligence Squadron

Duty Title: Network Analyst

Time in Service: 1 year 3 months

Time at Mildenhall: 6 months

Hometown: Orange Park, Fla.

Hobbies: Traveling, reading, studying French

Core Value Portrayed: Excellence

How does the individual portray that core value?
She's only been on station for six months and is trained and certified on three of the four positions in her shop. Likewise, she trains others in at least one of the three positions.

Why is serving in the Air Force important to you?
I feel that while I'm here I'm doing something important. I have the potential to affect peoples' lives in a positive way and to even save someone's life. Serving has changed my opinion of myself and has added depth to my world perspective. The knowledge that the peers, mentors, and leaders that I look up to and respect also respect me as a professional, and that instills within me a great sense of pride and self-confidence.

What accomplishment during your Air Force career are you most proud of?
I have several. I completed our rigorous Signals Intelligence Analyst technical training near the top of my class. My certifications on mission positions within my work-centre as well the completion of my first set of CDCs were accomplished three months ahead of schedule. During a recent visit to our squadron by our operations group senior leadership, I was coined by our chief enlisted manager for doing outstanding work! In my work-center, my supervisors and leadership routinely demonstrate their confidence in me by charging me with tasks and duties that require high-levels of competency and responsibility, which alone gives me a sense of accomplishment.

What are your personal and/or professional goals?
My priority right now is to complete the three volumes of my CDCs concurrently with certification on the other two positions within my workspace, normally held by NCOs. Following that, I intend to focus all of my efforts on completing my degree requirements to attain degrees from the Community College of the Air Force and beyond. An entirely personal goal I have is to learn French so that I can continue traveling throughout Europe during my limited time overseas.

What is your favorite part of your job?
The feeling of positive impact on people both in the field that I support and those within my work-center is the most rewarding aspect of my job. I feel the individuals with whom I work on a daily basis are intelligent and well-educated. Rarely a day goes by in which I fail to learn something new and interesting!
