9/6/2012 - RAF MILDENHALL, England -- The RAF Mildenhall computer network system is scheduled for migration to the Air Force Network beginning Sept. 24.
The AFNet migration will consolidate the network into one centrally-managed network to provide customers the capability to access their information and work from any base, using a common access card-enabled computer in the AFNet system.
The migration will replace network users' old email addresses that were base-specific with an email address that will last for their entire career.
In preparation for the upcoming migration, users are encouraged to downsize their email accounts and move excess emails to a locally-stored personal folder, read all AFNet eAdvisors and pop-ups, log-off computers daily, and notify off-base organizations of their new email address.
Although base migration is scheduled to begin late September, the process will be broken into blocks; users can anticipate migration anytime within the block. They will receive a yellow eAdvisory at 72 hours and a red eAdvisory 24 hours prior to migration.
Once migration begins, computer users are advised to let the script completely download before rebooting the computer system.
For more information on AFNet migration preparation, refer to the AFNet Migration Tool Kit on the Air Force portal or contact the 100th Communications Squadron Comm Focal Point at DSN 238-2666.
