As one of the best-attended outreach events since COVID-19 restrictions began last year, the Royal Air Force Mildenhall Pollywiggles Playgroup provided a much needed opportunity to socially connect with members of the Tri-Base community.

The playgroup, designed to increase readiness and resilience, provides children and their families a weekly opportunity for inclusive play and a safe space for caregivers to share ideas and experiences.

Activities include infant play, a safe zone for scooters and riding cars, toddler basketball hoops, language arts games, fine motor manipulative toys, crafting kits, sensory games, social play, and cognitive development games. A future vision for the Playgroup will include representatives from helping agencies to attend and share information about their programs.

“After having to stay at home for so long, we’re all excited to connect and this activity is a real step towards life beyond COVID,” said Kyra Wood, a Pollywiggles Playgroup attendee.

The Playgroup was developed by the Exceptional Family Member Program team to promote inclusivity and is open to all Tri-Base families, infants to five years old, and their caregivers.

The Pollywiggles Playgroup is scheduled to take place each Thursday from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm at RAF Mildenhall Youth Center Gym. It is essential to RSVP as spaces are limited. To reserve your space, please contact the RAF Mildenhall Airman and Family Readiness Center at 01638 543406.
