Servicemembers who reside off base or in base housing have either received, or will receive, a form called a Register of Electors in their post box. Those residing in the dorms will not receive the form.

According to British Law, all residents are legally required to return the form annually, said Sq. Ldr. Rick Fryer, RAF Mildenhall station commander.

For U.S. servicembembers or DoD Civilians who are not married to a British National, the process is easy.

Simply check the "All residents not entitled to vote due to their nationality e.g. American" box in Section 3, then print "U.S. or American" in the box immediately to the right. Once this is done, simply return the form to your local council in the provided post-paid envelope. These members do not need to provide their names anywhere on the form.

If you do not fill out the form, a second one will be sent, and if it is not completed and returned a representative from your local council will come to your door to verify if the property is occupied. Ensure you verify their credentials prior to providing any personal information.

If a member is married to a British National, his or her name must be provided. For members who will permanently change duty station before Oct. 15, this form should be left uncompleted for the next occupant. Members in this situation can contact their letting agent for any questions or concerns.

Lastly, if any base dormitory resident is a British National, they need to contact Sq. Ldr. Fryer after Aug. 16, and will be required to complete registration forms.
