Interested and eligible officers in the grade of O-5 may now submit applications to be considered for deputy commander positions in mission support groups in 2010.

Applications are due via e-mail to the base support officer assignments section at the Air Force Personnel Center here by Nov. 20.

Unless in a must-move situation (e.g. graduating squadron commanders, completion of a joint assignment, etc.) in summer 2010, officers interested in competing for these positions must have a minimum of three years time-on-station and must plan to fill the deputy commander position for at least three years. Officers who are not in a must-move situation and have less than three years TOS must have a waiver request signed by their wing commander in order to compete.

Line officers in any Air Force specialty may apply as long as they have been released by their assignment team and can obtain endorsement from their senior rater. Additionally, applicants must have a current Airman Development Plan updated with their career desires and assignment location preferences.

Applicants will remain candidates through the 2010 summer assignments cycle.

The base support assignments team will confirm eligibility and will forward nominations to the hiring authorities. Hiring authorities will have three days to make a selection based on the nominees provided.
