Hispanic Heritage Month kicks off

RAFs Mildenhall, Lakenheath observe Hispanic Heritage Month

RAF MILDENHALL, England -- Hispanic Heritage month is in full-swing both here and at RAF Lakenheath.

The month-long celebration of Hispanic culture is officially observed from Sept. 15 to Oct. 15, but events are scheduled through Oct. 23.

An opening ceremony at the RAF Lakenheath BX Sept. 16 kicked things off with cake, Hispanic national flags, music and dancing.

The following events are scheduled throughout the observed period:

Sept. 17: Piñata party, 4 p.m. at the RAF Mildenhall library
Oct. 7: 5K Fun Run, 7:30 a.m. at RAF Lakenheath
Oct. 23: Free food tasting, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the RAF Lakenheath chapel
Every Monday and Wednesday Sept. 21 through Oct. 21: Salsa dance lessons, 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the RAF Lakenheath gym
