RAF Mildenhall NCO’s journey from enlisted to officer
U.S. Air Force Tech. Sgt. Ian Velez, 100th Communications Squadron NCO-in-charge of radio frequency transmissions, is scheduled to attend Officer Training School and commission as a force support squadron officer later this year. Velez’s path to OTS was not a quick one. He faced many obstacles while pursuing his goal of becoming an Air Force officer; nonetheless, he earned his commission with drive, patience and the ability to accept the guidance of a mentor.

Mildenhall hosts USAFE resilience trainer course
RAF MILDENHALL, England – RAF Mildenhall hosted a Master Resiliency Trainer certification course for members across U.S. Air Forces in Europe Air Forces Africa here Jan. 14-18. The course was held with the purpose of increasing resilience awareness and training, inspired by the Air Force initiative to create a culture where members are comfortable seeking and receiving assistance within their communities.

Mildenhall Chaplain changes lives for three decades
“I knew my life’s calling, but I tried to run from it as far as I could for as long as I could,” said Chaplain Capt. Kennie Neal, 100th Air Refueling Wing chaplain. “I knew I was called to minister the Gospel, and my ministry was the Air Force.” Chaplain Neal spent 19 years in the enlisted force and decided to see what the officer side was like from a spiritual perspective.

The Young Airmen’s Council hosted the “Airmen leading Airmen” seminar here on Aug. 22, 2018. The Young Airmen’s Council provides an opportunity for the newest generation of Airmen to lead events and give event briefings to leadership. The council also allows them to lay the groundwork for organizing events, which benefit themselves and their peers.
