  • RAF Mildenhall hosts 39th annual Joann Mann Special Sports Day

    Team Mildenhall hosted the 39th annual Joan Mann Special Sports Day athletic event to provide an opportunity for special needs athletes from across the Midlands to experience the rewards of friendly competition at Royal Air Force Mildenhall Sept. 24, 2021. Joan Mann, a Ministry of Defence employee who worked at the base, began organizing the annual event to offer community members with special needs a day of fun, and to bring the military and area residents closer together.
  • 100th AMXS supports Air Force's global reach mission

    The 100th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron conducted post-flight maintenance on a KC-135 Stratotanker aircraft at Royal Air Force Mildenhall, Aug. 31.  The squadron supports the Air Force's global reach mission by maintaining KC-135s, which deliver air refueling capability throughout Europe and Africa and provide the critical air refueling “bridge” allowing the expeditionary Air Force to deploy around the globe at a moment’s notice.

    “On 9/11, I was in the missile field at Minot Air Force Base, North Dakota, in the middle of Exercise Global Guardian and working the mid shift,” said Senior Master Sgt. Rachel Castrovinci, 100th Operations Support Squadron senior enlisted leader. “When we went out to the field, we stayed for four days and slept out there, so I was asleep when it happened.”
